Payment rules
Duty lawyer fees are payable at the hourly rate outlined in the scale of fees commencing from the time of arrival at the court or the watch-house.
Rostered duty lawyers may claim travel expenses if:
- the total distance traveled to and from court exceeds 10 km but does not exceed 35 km and
- the practitioner is not also attending the court on behalf of a private client
Traveling expenses for distances in excess of 35 km will only be paid in special circumstances where prior approval has been obtained from Legal Aid Queensland.
