It can be very distressing to be a victim of a crime, having a family member who has been a victim of a crime or if you've witnessed or helped someone who has been a victim of a crime.
If you've suffered physical or psychological harm there are organisations and services available for help and support. You may also be eligible for financial assistance through Victims Assist Queensland.
If you or someone you know is at immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, call 000. Call 13 11 14 for Lifeline's Crisis Counselling service or 1300 224 636 for BeyondBlue.

Knowmore is a free service offering legal advice and information to help you consider your options about compensation, redress and other legal issues related to institutional child sexual abuse.
Queensland Law Society can refer you to a specialist private lawyer for advice or representation. Some private lawyers may give a free initial consultation for personal injury matters.

Victim Assist Queensland gives financial assistance, information and referrals to support services to help victims of crime in Queensland.
Civil Law Legal Scheme has been set up to help financial disadvantaged people access legal help for civil law matters.
Crime Stoppers is a telephone hotline for members of the community to provide anonymous information about criminal activity.
DV Connect gives free help and advice to women, men and children affected by domestic and family violence.
Protect All Children Today (PACT) helps children and young people aged 3-17 years who are victims or witnesses to a crime.
Bravehearts provides counselling and support for children and young people who have experienced child sexual assault.
Immigrant Women’s Support Service (IWSS) is a support service for immigrant and refugee women and their children from non-English speaking backgrounds that are affected by domestic and sexual violence.
Living Well helps men aged 16 years and over who have experienced childhood sexual abuse or sexual assault.
Queensland Sexual Assault Helpline is a free, confidential service giving information and referrals for victims of sexual assault.
WWild supports women with intellectual or learning disabilities aged 15 years or over who have experienced sexual violence.
Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services provides services for children and young people who are experiencing harm or are at risk of experiencing harm.
Kids Helpline is a free, confidential, 24 hour telephone counselling service for young people aged between 5 - 25 years.
Queensland Homicide Victims Support Group is a state wide service giving practical and emotional support to people who have lost a loved one to homicide.
Department of Justice and Attorney-General has information and forms for making a claim for personal injury.
WorkSafe can help with general enquiries about injuries (physical, psychiatric or psychological) arising due to work, including injuries that have occurred in the workplace as a result of a crime.
