The child protection duty lawyer provides free legal information and advice for people who are responding to applications in the Childrens Court.

The duty lawyer can:

  • discuss your situation and the options available to you
  • give you free legal information and advice
  • explain what will happen in court
  • help you with forms or documents needed in court
  • help you to complete a Legal Aid Queensland application form
  • let you know if you might be eligible for ongoing legal representation from Legal Aid Queensland
  • refer you to other organisations who might be able to help you
  • refer you to get legal advice, assistance and maybe representation for related family law and domestic and family violence issues.
