IT Update: Grants Online browser compatibility
With Internet Explorer being phased out by Microsoft early next year, LAQ IT have commenced works to upgrade the Grants Online system to be compatible with modern browsers. While this work is continuing, you will need to continue to use Internet Explorer with Grants Online. If you try to use Internet Explorer and find that Grants Online is being opened up in the Edge browser, please follow these instructions which explain how to stop this from happening.
New LAQ Board member
Cairns-based lawyer Spencer Browne has been appointed to the Legal Aid Queensland Board, bringing with him a wealth of experience from private practice and the not-for-profit sector.
Spencer graduated from James Cook University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws and obtained his Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University in 2010. He was an associate to two District Court judges, before practising in planning and environmental law and commercial litigation. He is the North Queensland Law Association’s longest-serving president and currently sits as the organisation’s treasurer.
Spencer has a keen interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs and has spent the last 10 years doing legislative compliance work in the Aboriginal Community Control Health Organisation sector. He enjoys running community events and has organised a major youth-based event in north Queensland for the past 10 years, focusing on reducing youth crime and recidivism. Welcome Spencer!
Commonwealth Family Law Cross-Examination Scheme
Family law practitioners are reminded that if they wish to act in matters where a s 102NA order has been made and as such, the Commonwealth Family Law Cross-Examination Scheme applies, they must apply to join this specific panel. It is not sufficient to be on the Family Law panel. Details about the scheme can be found:
