You or your client requested a review of the previous decision to refuse your application for aid. The decision was upheld by a senior officer who wrote to you with their decision. On request this matter was then referred to an External Review Officer for review. The External Review officer is a lawyer in private practice who has been appointed by the Legal Aid Queensland Board to independently review Legal Aid Queensland’s decisions. The External Review Officer is bound by the same criteria as Legal Aid Queensland when reviewing applications for aid and must consider: • The Legal Aid Queensland Act 1997 • The Grants Policy Manual • The Grants Handbook The External Review Officer has considered this matter and approved funding.
