Legal aid has been granted for additional standard preparation for a trial listed for 5 or 6 days for a solicitor advocate in the Family Law Courts. This grant of aid is in addition to the trial preparation grant already provided and covers all work required to prepare for the trial. This is a maximum fee grant of aid. Claims can be made for actual time spent up to the maximum. Funding for parties in family law matters is subject to a cost cap. Refer to Guideline 18 – Family law costs management.
Legal aid has granted further funding for solicitor to prepare for your trial in the Family Law Courts. The maximum professional fee Legal Aid will pay for your lawyer at this stage is $2,700.00. Practitioners can only claim for the actual time spent interviewing the client, drafting and perusing documents up to the maximum allowable. Practitioners must retain records of the preparation undertaken to substantiate their claims under this grant.
